Home Sweet Home
First day back at work, and I can’t help feel a sense of relief. Today is the first night Athena and I come home to an empty house. It’s nice to be able to unwind before being bombarded with family (we’ve seen non-stop family for the entire duration of our 2 week vacation), but it’s also bitter-sweet having to say goodbye to everyone.
We spent the evening doing absolutely nothing: I built a fire, she made us Top Ramen, we watched a movie, and now she’s casually rehearsing for her audition this Saturday. Fate has cursed her with a small cold, but I’m helping her with whatever I can – Flonase, warm honey water, and by leaving the room when she’s really belting it out. Eventually, I’ll convince her to record her practice sessions – it’s really the only way to learn. Sing into a mic, record it, and listen to what comes out the other end – it’s often quite enlightening.
I think I’m gunna chill out for a bit, and just listen.
