Snowy Mountain Range

So, I am seriously debating pushing back the release of my CD in order to use a different CD replicating service. The benefits would be numerous: cheaper CD for you, a tad more money for me, and more time to add Caleb’s requested changes to the disc. I am seriously thinking that this would be a good idea. If anyone has any objections, let me know.

In other news, I went snowboarding on Monday, had a blast, and even made a cool technological invention. I added speakers to my helmet, which allowed me to listen to music while boarding (nothing better than having a soundtrack while you tear ass down a snow covered mountain, busting jumps whenever possible). I am also seriously debating just taking off tomorrow and going alone if no one else will go with me. If you wanna go boarding, call me: 805.689.9381.

Good Reviews

Posted by rdub in General, Music

Excellent News: All our test marketing on my Family and Noah’s Family has resulted in excellent reviews. Now, all this is somewhat expected from family, but still! Hell, I even had my Uncle Mark ask me all about my creative process — it was all incredibly satisfying, telling someone how it all came to be. He got the inside scoop and got to hear the pre-release versions of the song (all acoustic, very cool, and the vocals, imho, are better). Also, my Uncle Steve says Noah is an excellent drummer, and the bassist, Caleb, is “very good.” Awesomeness!

Also, Christmas has been great; seeing family always makes me happy. I have been more myself lately then ever before, and it feels damn good. It’s funny, I’ve been sitting around, wearing my silly hat, and dressing somewhat off-the-wall, and being my usual, crazy self. I love it.

Hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas as well. (Hopefully, Amanda will IM me about Tahoe, cuz I wanna go board and see old friends again; its been like 6 years since I’ve seen her, and it would be really cool to surf her couch and go boarding and get to know each other again.) Besides, I have nothing to do for New Year’s — what better to do than re-kindle old friendships.

Fashion Police!!

So, here is my new fashion. What do you think?

Fashion Police

Bittersweet

Being home is so bitter sweet. I get to relax with family, but they don’t show any interest in my CD (don’t even ask to hear it, wtf?!?). They ask me to fix their computer every damned time I come home. GRR!! They did ask me about my grades, which tells me they do care, but not about things I’d like them to care about. I’m just expressing my frustration, not that I don’t love my parents (I do, very much), but sometimes they seem a little… eh.. whats the word… almost bull headed? That doesn’t really explain it. Anyways… moving on.

Oh well, I didn’t write and release my music for them, or anyone else, for that matter. I did it for me, and I approve of it, and thats all that matters.

In other news, anyone wanna go snowboarding sometime soon? I really wanna go, but my mom and dad BOTH broke their ankles recently (as in, one ankle break each, not both ankles on both of em), so I can’t go with them very well. Oh, and I got a lot of new clothes today; my mom gave me a fashion update. So, if you wanna go boarding, linz or robert, or anyone that knows me, give me a call on my cell phone, or find me on AIM: ryandubois110.

And, its done.

The master CD has been mailed to cafepress, who is doing my short run CD production. I only say short run because I have no expectations to sell 1000 CDs. If that happens, I’m sure cafepress would be more than happy, as would I, and next time, I’d use discmakers.com. Anyway… I just spent the night reading and popping out guitar sketches like I was an artist or something. Its cool to think, after a month of hectic, borderline-annoying recording sessions (not that the people I was with were annoying, just that fact that the CD still wasn’t done…), I still have the creative energy to come up with really neat sounding jams.

So, for my next act, I would say expect more acoustic sounding guitar jams, with mild backing, and some raw vocals (I like to do shit with feeling, and trying to record songs over and over again on my last CD took alot of the feeling outa them, which makes me sad). I plan to use a full drum kit on MOST of the songs (Noah, up for another album sometime later?).

Oh, and I’d like to debut some of the new jams at my release party which will happen sometime next quarter (i’m gunna say first weekend, and thank God in advance that the CDs will be there on time).

Damn, this rules. Welcome to the start of an awesome career.
