Make your own fun: Trick or Shot ™

Posted by rdub in General

In accordance with Joel’s comment to the last post (fun doesn’t happen, you have to go out and make it), I have invented a new Halloween activity that will appeal to the more adult-like ideals in you: Trick-or-Shoting(TM). Thats right folks, instead of ringing door bells and saying “trick or treat,” this halloween, say “trick or shot.” The expected response from the host of the house you are at is to pour each member of your party a shot, and an extra one for him or herself, and to all take shots together. Make sure you “cheers” to something relevant (if you can’t think of anything, boobs always works. Everyone loves boobs). Once this ritual has been performed, you are now welcome at the party you just crashed. Stay until you are bored, then hop in a car driven by a sober driver, and drive or walk to another party to Trick-or-shot.

We did this last night, and man did I get trashed. And for free!! :)

Ozo!

Posted by rdub in General

Ozomatli was in town last night, playing at the Rec Center. What a treat, right in the middle of SLO town. The concert started a bit slow, with a free-style rap group fronting for another interesting band, fronting for Ozomatli. The rap group was able to talk to so fast that no one in the audience could understand what the hell they were saying — not very entertaining tho. The next group was much more my style. We got to the concert at 7:30, waaaaay too early, considering Ozo went on stage at 10pm. What a long wait.

Once they came out, the mediocre crowd that was gathered went nuts. They played for two hours, with styles sounding like reggae, hip hop, and mariachi. Ozomatli has such an eclectic style, able to entertain from the start to the finish of the concert.

One very unique thing I noticed happened when Ozomatli stopped playing, picked up the percussion instruments, trombone, and trumpet, and marched out into the crowd. In the middle of the audience, there I was, face to face with the stars of Ozomatli — having a drum line in the CPSLO Rec Center! Not only that, but my old Roommate, John Taylor, started doing Cappoerra with the kids of Ozomatli! Ozomatli, doing the drumline for a roda in the Rec Center, and I was in the front row. This was the most amazing concert I had ever been to in my life — an experience I will never forget. Thank you ASI Events!

Slackers

Posted by rdub in General

So, I went to Cuesta yesteday to do paperwork. Turns out the people there are worse slackers than I am. Yet again, no paperwork was ready to be filled out. So, I donned my new super-sexy uniform and went out doing random errands with a guy I will be working with: Manuel. That was the extent of that — then I came home and had super fun working on a prelab. Finished that, and drank some jaeger. :) It was a good night.
