Education is the path to fairness for all?

What makes it even more painful, is that this legislation flies directly in the face of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Where is the pursuit of Happiness now?

Let me put it thusly:

If these churchs believe so strongly believe that gay marriage is wrong, then they should simply not perform gay marriages in their churchs.  Don’t go telling everyone else in the state that they have to believe the same way.  In fact, it could be construed that this is unconstitutional.

The First Amendment of the constitution states this:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibing the free exercise thereof;…

Now, what if my religion happens to support gay marriage.  This law is now a law that prohibits the free exercise of my religion.

    Blog Entry, Nov 5th, Prop-8: I don’t have a stand on Prop-8 or gay marriage. However I liked the stand you have taken and you come across bold and strong with your comments. Love it! Wish more people could see that we humans are a lot more than just our sexual identities… Sexual identity is only one part of who we all are… But since we live in a such a sex infused world today, society puts a magnifying glass on that one part of us and pretty much says thats all we are.. or at least looks at us that way.. but you know the bottom line is that everyone has a deep need to love and be loved, intimately… I think there is a strong stigma in society that all gay people are just sex crazed beings.. Of course I do not support lustful connections either between homosexuals or heterosexuals.. or for that matter bisexuals… or transexuals, etc… gosh… what a diversity we have before us.. what next .. LOL! … nevertheless where there is universal Love it can only be good… where there is deep intimate love (exclusive and committed) that can only be special… and I think that in God’s eyes would be beautiful too. … though I have to confess that I never could understand in my own heart how two men or two women could be so intimately in love with each other.. I really tried to understand that because it was happening around everywhere.. I tried to see in myself if I could do that myself.. like being with intimate with another gal.. but I just couldn’t fathom how … so after deeper contemplation I reallized that universal Love is so simple… we just love everyone regardless of deep intimacy, just like sisters and brothers … and with regards to intimate love, I saw that it was okay for me not to be able to understand what makes one man so intimately like another.. that they would marry each other… I did not have to understand it all right now.. maybe later I would… but just because I could not understand it, I did not have the right to criticize and demean what I could not understand today… that would be simply a manifestation of my own inner struggle… so I chose to instead look at the good things in same-sex marriages… that is that two people truly love and care for each other… and the best I could do is to respect them, and applaud their love for each other… It feels so freeing, it feels so right, if feels so good… It feels like Love! LOL! Well then it must be just that! I think that society will slowly warm up to the fact that God made His children and sent us to Earth the way we are… we do not get to choose our parents, our bodies, our siblings, our looks, and for that matter our sexual identities… Yet we all desire deep intimate love with one person… and sexual intimacy is one important part of that intimate love… so I do not understand why christian fundamentalists want to deprive homosexuals to fulfil their need for intimate love.. or do they believe that its just a right that heterosexuals are entitled to… but then again they believe that homosexuality is a choice… they have no proof of that… even though if all the gays and lesbians of the world stand together and in one voice tell them that it is not a choice… I feel the christian fundamentalists will not listen.

    I wish God would have just given a protocol or instructions in scripture about how homosexuals and other types of “sexuals” should conduct their lives… that would simplify things so much… maybe Jesus did at some point in time.. but that scripture could have quickly been hidden or discarded. In the past homosexuals would remain in the closet due to societal pressures and discrimination and then they would end up hiding their true sexual identities and marrying heterosexuals… but they would not disclose the truth about themselves… this is sad because later the heterosexual spouse would find and would feel hurt… Truth is the foundation of all relationships.. So today it is good that young gay+lesbian people are not so afraid to come out and, be honest about their sexuality, and just be themselves.
