yea, about that…

Posted by rdub in Quotes, Rants

So, about my last rant. I feel kinda silly posting it here. It’s more about the lack of useful feedback I’ve been getting from a site designed to generate feedback for digital art, deviantART. I’ve been getting great feedback from friends, and spend all this time posting images on DA, and get comments like:

omfg! LOL! That pix is so kickass!!!1!one!omfgwtf!

Yea, I know… I took it. Thanks for the constructive criticism. Along with that rant, I was ranting about the lame people at Cal Poly. So many people here are or seem to be fake, and it pisses me off. Along with the fakeness, I see too many people walking around “asleep” with no idea who or where they are, in life, or in general. It makes me sad, and angry at the same time. Sorry for dumping my garbage here on my few faithful readers (I know of 3. If there are more, leave me a comment or two.. ;) )

Also, I do feel like I’m stepping out of an old life that was very up and down. Leaving generally sunny days, with the occasional thunder storm, for the always sunny skies of Hawaii, with the added benefit of living on a beach and constantly drinking margaritas.

Sorry for the imagery, but its true. Things are looking up and I wanted to share my enthusiasm.

As someone who has (occassionally) been guilty of judging others incorrectly in the past and (definitely) been guilty of presuming how others should and should not behave and/or do with their own lives/time I feel I ought to point out that in my experience we are usually 99.9% wrong about what is going on inside other people’s heads (with the exceptions of those very precious and few folks whom we ever really become close to). So saying that many people are or seem to be fake and that they are “asleep” and missing out on what you perceive life to be has a good chance of being mistaken. So anyway, do what I do, buck up – trust that other people are or will learn to live life in a way that satisfies them – and just keep on keepin’ on. And once more, congratulations on all your success. Ya did good. :-)

    Joel,
Damn good comment, and you are very right. I’ve been guilty of prejudging people too much. It’s true, people live life in a way that satisfies them (in most cases); different strokes for different folks, as it were.

Thanks for challenging me, and for your enthusiasm on my job. :) You’ve always been a good friend, and challening the way I see things (which is appreciated). Sometimes I can be a bit quick to judge, when I need not be judging at all. I assure you, I’ve been working on it. And the rant, rife with judgment as it is, is my way of letting that judgement go, rather than bottling it up.
Thanks again for challenging me, and for understanding. Congratulations yourself, on your upcoming marriage!
